Online Physical Therapy for the Hamptons

Video visits for movement coaching, home program progression and follow-up. And an honest account of what a camera cannot do.

What a video visit is genuinely good at.

An online session is a scheduled video visit with a licensed physical therapist on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. What it does well is coaching and progression: watching you perform your exercises and correcting them, advancing your home program when you are ready, troubleshooting a flare-up, reviewing a movement pattern like a squat or a lunge, and keeping a plan of care moving while you are travelling or working from home.

What it cannot do is put hands on you. Joint mobilization, manipulation, soft tissue work and assisted stretching all need a therapist in the room, and so does the part of an examination that depends on feel and on passive testing. If your case needs those, telehealth is a supplement to your in-person visits rather than a replacement for them, and we will say so instead of selling you a video call.

So here is the honest positioning. Telehealth is excellent for the coaching and continuity half of physical therapy, and it beats no care at all in a week where you cannot get in. If you are new and your problem has never been examined, book an in-person evaluation first if you can reach Speonk or Quogue, and use video for the visits in between.

Online Physical Therapy at Greiner Physical Therapy

Who uses video visits.

Mostly established patients, and mostly for continuity.

Patients Who Travel

Continuity for people splitting time between the Hamptons and somewhere else.

Home Program Progression

Established patients whose exercises need advancing, correcting or scaling back.

Follow-Up And Check-Ins

Quick reviews between hands-on visits, and after discharge when something starts talking again.

Anyone Stuck At Home This Week

Illness, weather, no transport, or a schedule that has closed up entirely.

How an online visit runs.

A fit check, the session, then the written plan.

A Fit Check

We ask what is going on and whether a video visit is the right tool for it. If you need an examination or hands-on treatment, we book that instead, or alongside.

The Session

You join a secure video link with clear space to move and shoes on. Your therapist watches you perform the movements, corrects position, changes load or range, and works through the plan for the week.

The Written Plan After

Your updated home program lands on your phone in the app your therapist builds it in, with the sets, reps and cues from the session, so nothing depends on your memory of the call.

What you get out of it.

Continuity, correction, and a straight answer about scope.

A Plan That Keeps Moving

No four-week hole in your care because you were away.

Corrected Technique

Live cueing on the exercises you have been doing slightly wrong.

Access Without A Drive

A licensed physical therapist from wherever you happen to be.

A Straight Answer

Including when the answer is that you need to be seen in person.

Questions about online physical therapy.

01 / Is an online visit as good as coming in?
For coaching, progression and follow-up it does the job well. For anything needing hands, joint mobilization, manipulation, soft tissue work, assisted stretching, or the passive part of an examination, it does not, and we will not pretend otherwise. Most patients use it alongside in-person visits rather than instead of them.
02 / What do I need for the session?
A phone, tablet or laptop with a camera, a few feet of clear floor, and clothing you can move in. A resistance band, a foam roller or a stretching strap is useful if you own one, but nothing is required to start.
03 / Do you take insurance for telehealth, and do I need a referral?
Coverage for telehealth varies more than it does for in-person care, so call us and we will check what your plan does. We are in network with Medicare and Medicare Advantage, out of network with most other plans, and we submit claims on your behalf. Medicaid is not accepted. No referral is needed in New York for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first.

What our patients say.

"If you're looking for physical therapy this is the place to be! One on one training, practitioners who listen and invite feedback, and an app to help with at home exercises."
