Something Hurting? Not Sure Whether Your Child Should Keep Playing?

Sports injuries don’t always happen in one moment. Sometimes it’s persistent knee pain, a recurring ankle injury or shoulder soreness that gradually gets worse.

Our complimentary 10-minute injury screen gives you and your athlete an opportunity to meet with a licensed physical therapist, discuss your concerns and understand the appropriate next steps.

During the screen, we’ll:

  1. Discuss the athlete’s symptoms
  2. Perform a brief assessment when appropriate
  3. Help determine whether a comprehensive PT evaluation or further medical assessment is recommended

Important disclaimer: This complimentary screen is not a substitute for a comprehensive physical therapy evaluation or medical diagnosis. It does not clear an athlete to return to play.

Benefits of Physical Therapy for Soccer Players

Soccer asks a lot of young knees and ankles: sprinting, sudden stops, quick changes of direction and landing from jumps. Physical therapy can help soccer players:

  • Recover from knee, ankle and other injuries with rehabilitation designed around the demands of the sport
  • Build the strength, stability and movement control needed for athletic participation
  • Practice jumping and landing mechanics, cutting and deceleration techniques
  • Progress back to training and games with attention to strength, function and sport-specific readiness

What Parents Can Expect

  • An opportunity to discuss your child’s pain or injury with a licensed PT.
  • Guidance on whether additional evaluation is appropriate.
  • Recommendations for the next steps toward recovery and returning to activity.
  • Access to our sports rehabilitation team at our Quogue and Speonk locations.

Stronger Teams Start With Better Movement.

We’re partnering with local youth sports clubs and school teams to bring injury-prevention education directly to athletes.

Our 30-minute, sport-specific sessions are led by our physical therapists and focus on movement skills, strength, body control and practical strategies to help reduce injury risk.

Sessions can be tailored to:

  • Soccer
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Softball
  • Lacrosse
  • Other sports

Depending on the sport, athletes may learn:

  • Dynamic warm-ups
  • Jumping and landing mechanics
  • Cutting and deceleration techniques
  • Ankle and knee stability exercises
  • Shoulder injury-prevention strategies

For parents and coaches

Parents and coaches also receive information on recognizing injuries and knowing when to seek professional care.
