Fitness Classes & Training in Speonk, NY

The group side of the practice. Small classes on the Speonk gym floor, programmed and coached by the same people who do the rehab, which is why nobody gets hurt in them.

Classes run by people who spend the rest of the day fixing injuries.

Most group fitness is written for a room, not for the people in it, which is why so many of our rehab patients arrive with an injury they picked up in a class. Ours are the other way around. They are programmed inside a physical therapy clinic by staff who see the consequences of bad programming every day, and they are kept small enough that somebody is actually watching you.

We run several formats on the Speonk gym floor. Turn & Burn is conditioning work. Osteo Blast is loaded strength training built around bone density, which is the training most people over sixty are told to do and never shown how to do. HIIT Strength and Conditioning is interval work pairing strength with conditioning for people who want to be genuinely out of breath. Every one of them scales, and scaling is the coach’s job, not yours.

If you want one person’s whole attention on your program instead of a class, that is personal training, and it is a different service. Class schedules move with the season, so call the clinic for what is running now. Class packages and the first-class option are on our shop page.

Fitness Training at Greiner Physical Therapy

Who trains in the classes.

Mostly adults who want structure, company, and someone qualified watching.

Discharged rehab patients

You finished physical therapy, you do not want to lose what you built, and a gym floor by yourself is not going to hold you.

Bone density work

Osteo Blast is loaded strength training for people who have been told to protect their bones and never taught how to load them safely.

People who want conditioning

Turn & Burn and the HIIT format, for anyone whose fitness has gotten comfortable and stopped changing.

Adults who need accountability

A class on the calendar with people expecting you is a stronger commitment device than a membership card.

Seasonal residents

A Hamptons summer of tennis, golf and paddle goes better when you arrive already conditioned for it.

Anyone with a history to work around

A cranky shoulder or a rebuilt knee does not disqualify you here, because the coach knows how to modify around it.

How to join a class.

Straightforward, and nobody makes you commit to a year of anything.

Call and ask what is running

Class formats and times change through the year, so we would rather tell you the current schedule than post one that goes stale. Tell us what you are after and any injury history, and we will point you at the right format.

Try one

Come in, meet the coach, and do a class. Package options and the first-class offer are on our shop page. Nothing about this requires a long commitment up front.

Get scaled, not spectated

The coach adjusts loads and movements for you inside the class. If something hurts, it gets changed on the spot, which is the advantage of training inside a clinic.

Build a routine

Most people settle into two or three sessions a week, sometimes mixing a class with personal training. If something starts hurting, you are already in a building full of licensed physical therapists.

What you get out of it.

Real training effects, plus the part most gyms cannot offer.

Strength that transfers

Loaded, progressive work on the patterns daily life and sport actually use.

Conditioning

Interval work that raises your capacity for a full round of golf, a long set of tennis, or a day of yard work.

Bone and joint resilience

Osteo Blast exists because loading bone is the intervention, and it needs coaching to be done properly.

A coach who modifies

Injury history is accounted for rather than ignored, because the people writing the classes also do the rehab.

People to train with

Small groups on the Speonk gym floor. Showing up is easier when the room notices you did not.

A clinic behind the class

If a class turns something up, you can get it looked at properly without going anywhere else.

Questions about fitness training.

01 / What classes do you run, and when?
Formats include Turn & Burn, Osteo Blast, and HIIT Strength and Conditioning on the Speonk gym floor. Days and times shift with the season, so call the clinic for the current schedule instead of relying on a posted time. Class packages and the first-class option are on our shop page.
02 / How is this different from personal training?
Classes are the group side: a coach, a small room, one program scaled to the people in it. Personal training is one-on-one, with a program written for you and your whole session spent on it. Plenty of people do both, using classes for volume and personal training for the specifics.
03 / Is a class covered by insurance?
No. Classes are group fitness, not physical therapy, and they are paid for directly through our shop page. Physical therapy is different: in New York you can see a licensed physical therapist without a referral for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first, and we are in network with Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and out of network with most other plans, with claims submitted on your behalf. Medicaid is not accepted.
04 / I have an injury. Can I still take a class?
Usually yes, and you should tell the coach about it before you start. If the injury is the main event rather than a footnote, start with physical therapy and move into classes when you are ready. We will tell you honestly which one you need.

What our patients say.

"Over the years I have gone for Physical Therapy in many places for many reasons. Griener Physical Therapy was out of doubt one of the best experiences. I was lucky enough to have."
