Weight Lifting Analysis in the Hamptons

One session, 60 to 90 minutes, spent taking your actual lifts apart on video. You leave with the specific reason your squat, deadlift, bench or press is limiting you, and the cues to fix it. Available remotely.

One session. Your lifts, on video, taken apart properly.

This is not a course of care and it is not a training program. It is a single 60 to 90 minute appointment in which you perform your actual lifts and a licensed physical therapist films them, measures them and tells you exactly what is going on. Squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, rows, or whatever is in your program and giving you trouble.

What makes it different from a friend filming you is what happens after the camera. We look at joint angles and bar path frame by frame, at where the position breaks down and at which rep it starts, at whether the problem is a mobility restriction, a stability failure or a sequencing habit, and at which muscles are and are not doing their share. A knee that caves is a different problem depending on whether the hip cannot produce the force or the ankle cannot allow the position, and the fix is different too.

You leave with the findings, the specific cues for each lift, drills for whatever is limiting you, and load recommendations. There is also a remote option: send us video of your lifts filmed to our instructions and you get the full analysis back without coming in, which suits people who train elsewhere or are not in town.

Weight Lifting Analysis at Greiner Physical Therapy

Who books this.

Lifters at every level, usually with one specific question.

Lifters stuck at a weight

The bar has not moved in months. Often the limit is a position you lose, not the strength you lack.

Something aches during a lift

A shoulder in the bench, a low back in the deadlift. Not injured yet, and worth catching before you are.

Newer lifters

You have watched enough videos to be confused. One session with someone who can see you is worth a month of guessing.

Powerlifters and Olympic lifters

Technical coaching on your competition lifts and variations, with the reasoning behind each cue.

Back from an injury

You are cleared, you are lifting again, and you want to know whether the pattern that hurt you is still there.

Remote clients

You train somewhere else or you are away. Send video to our filming instructions and get the whole analysis back.

How the session runs.

Four parts, inside one appointment.

Before you come in

Tell us which lifts you want analysed and what your question is. Bring your program and your current working weights. Wear something we can see your joints move in, and warm up the way you normally would.

Film the working sets

You lift and we record, from the angles that show what we need to see, at loads that are real for you. Light singles hide the problem. Working weight is where technique tells the truth.

The breakdown

We review the footage with you, frame by frame: joint positions, bar path, the exact rep and the exact instant something changes, and whether the cause is mobility, stability or sequencing. We test the suspected limitation on the spot to confirm it.

What you leave with

Written findings for each lift, a short list of cues, the drills for your specific limitation loaded into our app with video, and load recommendations. Remote clients get the same analysis returned to them after submitting video.

What you get out of it.

A defined deliverable, which is rare in this industry.

A per-lift breakdown

Written findings for each lift you brought, in plain language, not a verbal summary you half remember.

Cues you can actually use

Two or three per lift, chosen because they address your limitation rather than because they sound good.

The cause, named

Mobility, stability or sequencing. Knowing which one changes what you should be doing about it.

Drills in the app

Video of the corrective work in our home-exercise app, so the fix does not depend on your memory.

A remote option

Submit video filmed to our instructions and get the full analysis without travelling to the clinic.

A clinician, not an influencer

The analysis comes from a licensed physical therapist who treats lifting injuries every week.

Questions about weight lifting analysis.

01 / How long is the session and what does it cover?
Most sessions run 60 to 90 minutes, depending on how many lifts you bring and how complex they are. Squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses and rows are the common ones, and anything else in your program is fair game. You leave with written findings, cues and drills.
02 / Can it be done remotely?
Yes. We tell you exactly how to film each lift, which angles and which loads. You submit the video and get back a full analysis with cues, drills and load recommendations. It suits people who train elsewhere, or who are out of town for part of the year. See also our online therapy option.
03 / Do I need a referral, and does insurance cover it?
An analysis is an assessment, so no referral is involved and it is paid for directly. If we find an injury that needs treatment, that is physical therapy: in New York you can see a licensed physical therapist without a referral for up to 30 days or 10 visits, whichever comes first, we are in network with Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and out of network with most other plans, and we submit claims on your behalf. Medicaid is not accepted.
04 / What if the analysis finds an actual injury?
We tell you plainly, and we tell you what to do about it. That is weightlifting rehab, and it usually does not mean stopping training, it means changing what you train while the injured tissue catches up.

What our patients say.

"He works with his patients directly for the entire session which was different and better than other physical therapy offices I have been to in the past."
