Dr. James Policastro, PT, DPT

James treats movement as something a person can be taught. He is drawn to the neurological, balance and pain cases where progress comes from understanding, not from pushing harder.

He is here to leave the world better than he found it.

James grew up in Ronkonkoma and went to Connetquot High School. He studied psychology as an undergraduate, then finished his schooling with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Mercy University.

Before graduate school he worked in the world of physical therapy as an aide. What he says he values here is the one-on-one care time between the therapist and the patient, and co-workers who are able and willing to help when he needs it.

He treats individuals of all kinds, improving daily life through movement education and strengthening, and the conditions he finds most rewarding are neurological, balance and pain ailments. The core value he names is short: to leave the world better than he found it. Outside work he is with friends and loved ones over board games and video games, listening to music and attempting to play it, or out in nature exploring places new and old.

One-on-One by Choice

He names the one-on-one care time between therapist and patient as what he likes about working here.

What James focuses on.

The patients James is most concerned about are the ones whose pain or loss of mobility is keeping them out of the things they love. That is the problem he is trying to solve, and he solves it by teaching movement rather than handing out a sheet of exercises.

Neurological conditions, balance problems and persistent pain are the three areas he gravitates toward, and all three respond to the same thing: patient time, in volume, with one therapist who knows the history.
